About Us

PURPOSE OF THE CENTER

The Center exists to provide an exceptional resource, as part of the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Utah, for the primary benefit of the diverse student body, where all are provided education, guidance and counseling in matters of personal finance. This we accomplish in an atmosphere of safety, confidentiality, competence and trust.

SERVICES WE OFFER

  • Confidential consultations with a trained professional and/or peer mentors, as appropriate.
  • Education regarding the tracking of and review of income, savings and expenses.
  • Education regarding the establishment of and the responsible management of credit.
  • Creation of a financial survival plan for college.
  • Education regarding how to understand credit reports and scores.
  • Creation of a personalized budget.
  • Planning for tuition and fee payments.
  • Creation of re-payment plans for student loans and other personal debt.
  • Cost benefit analysis regarding your degree program to determine if your future economic prospects justify the student debt you may be incurring...
  • Planning for varied financial objectives during and after college.
  • Evaluation of job offers and employer benefit packages.
  • Evaluation of your protection (insurance) strategies.
